A country of bread eaters, Austria has a long tradition of making dedicated receptacles for their loaves. Designed by Steven Dahlinger and brought to life by ceramicists Alexander Eselböck and Edgar Tezak in the latter's own studio in Stoob, this collaboration item truly merits its title. Stoob is located in Burgenland, the most eastern part of Austria, a region that once belonged to Hungary and is known for its rolling hills and fertile clay soils. The artists sourced the clay for these bowls directly nearby, making every one of the 99 a celebration of its origins. The lids are manufactured separately, by Swiss carpentry company Fagus Noir, rest atop the bowl perfectly and double as a RYE-sized cutting board.
