In Comploj’s atelier in Vienna’s 17th district, two large furnaces – each capable of holding some 264 pounds of molten glass – are running non-stop.

Having originally trained as a carpenter in Tyrol, Robert Comploj also developed an interest in glassmaking. After multiple stints in Corning (United States), London, Sæby (Denmark) and Murano (Italy) he went on to found his own studio in Vienna’s 17th district in 2004. The eponymous glassmaker has since become known for pieces that range from art objects to elevated everyday drinkware that perform both functionally as well as aesthetically. This custom-made set is no exception and not available anywhere else. A pair of water glasses on their own or as a set with the carafe make a beautiful addition to any table.
